South Bay Artists Cooperative was organized as a sole proprietorship in 1988 to provide an online gallery and sales outlet for artists living in the south San Francisco Bay Area. The great recession ended the enterprise in 1999 as the art market collapsed and galleries closed throughout the region. The owners maintain the domain name and post their art on the site. They hold a tax certificate (license) in the City of San Jose, CA and a sellers permit with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
